WildStorm #2 - Wildstorm

From what I understand, this book was only supposed to be a 1-shot. Something to introduce us back to the WildStorm Universe. But, the first issue did so well, that they decided to give it another installment. The first story is about VooDoo and Maul. It's by Keith Giffen and Phil Jimenez. Anybody who says that Phil isn't one of the premiere artists out there, doesn't know what they're talking about. This guy is fantastic. He never ceases to amaze me. Anyways, it's kind of a autobiographical story, with VooDoo telling us why it is that she does what she does. And what she does, basically, is finding evil men, and then being the Judge, Jury and Executioner. She and Jeremy have broken up, because he asked he why she did what she does. He didn't really want to know, but he had to know. So she told him about all the killing and all the sex and violence. See, her psychic abilities are tied directly to her sensuality. So in order to make sure she has the right man, she needs sex, and sweat, and pheromones. "Why do they all ask when they know they don't want to know? "Why VooDoo? Why do you do it?" . . . because, that's why. Because I like it!" The second story is about Savant and Jet. They're breaking in to StormWatch Plaza. But not to steal anything. They want to erase any hint of either of their existence, from all the computers. " . . . with what we've got planned . . . we need to keep our secrets secret." But the real point of the whole story, is that with her father no longer in the game, Jet's decided to adopt the moniker . . . BackLash. Another good story by Christos Gage and Ryan Sook. Also there's a beautiful center spread, with all of the WildStorm characters, by Phil. Hopefully they'll continue this book. It's a good place to reintroduce us, or just catch us up on, the other WildStorm heroes. Or villains even.
