I like all of the Ultimate books, for a lot of the same reasons. First of all, they take the normal, or accepted, histories and continuities of the Marvel Universe and . . . shake 'em up. Everything is familiar . . . but different. Secondly, it seems as if all the creators on these books, are having the time of their lives. They really seem to enjoy what their doing, and love what they're creating. They also all seem to enjoy pushing the envelope. And finally, the quality of the creators on all these projects, is just astounding. This particular mini-series is written by Mike Carey, and drawn by Brandon Peterson. And by the look and feel of the book, they appear to be the perfect creative team for this title. Sure there's bigger names out there, but the way these 2 are working together is like a beautiful symphony. In this issue Vision has regained control of her body, and is in the process of trying gain control of the space station. The Gah Lak Tus forces that are opposing her, and are trying to take down the station are immense and ruthless. And they're being led by Dr. Tarleton, who has apparently been completely taken over by the Gah Lak Tus hardware, and virus' that he installed on himself. Now he only speaks and acts as an appendage of Gah Lak Tus. Well no matter what she does, the station is coming apart at the seems. Her only hope, with the milli-second of control that she does get, is to make the station come down even faster and hopefully utterly destroy it between the atmospheric reentry, and the ultimate collision with earth. However, the whole she-bang was actually a diversion for the Gah Lak Tus module, as it syphoned power from everywhere that it could on the station. The final page of the story is a billowy plume of smoke coming from the wreckage and the Vision seeing the Gah Lak Tus module rising from the smoke. What are it's intentions now? And what are it's goals? We go 2 more issues to find out. It should be an excellent ride.
