Green Lantern #17 - DC

I know I'm sounding repetitive here, but, this is yet another book that I just can't say enough good stuff about. Geoff Johns is really coming in to his own as a storyteller. Well . . . I should say, since he's already a great author, that he's coming in to his own as a comic book genius. Right now, every book that he's a part of, is golden. Of course having Ivan Reis as your penciller doesn't hurt either. This guy is phenomenal. I can't believe he was hiding out at Chaos comics all these years and nobody saw his potential. This guy is a master. Anyways we got 2 main plots going on this issue. First we have Hal with Abin Sur's son, Amon Sur. He feels that he was cheated out of his destiny as a Green Lantern, and it's Hal's fault. Of course we know, from his run in with Kyle, that he's really not that altruistic of a gentleman. In fact he's pretty much . . a dick. So now he's decided that he's going to get his father's ring back if he has to kill Hal to get it. But, you don't ever seem to get a Lantern alone anymore. And John Stewart comes to Hal's rescue. But then, and this is our second plot, one of the Sinestro rings comes to him. It appears that there is a Sinestro Corps forming out of the Qwardian Universe, and the rings are coming in to ours to pick people that are worthy. "Amon Sur, you have the ability to instill great fear. Welcome to the Sinestro Corps." Then he's really ready to give Hal and John the smack-down. But, the ring has other plans. "You will now be subjected to psychological and physical reconditioning. Preparing to transport sentient being." And like that he's gone. The first ring came and tried to pick Batman. But his willpower was stronger than the ring's and he pushed it away. They probably didn't think that was possible. And on the final page, we get a glimpse of the new Star Sapphire. Fantastic book.
