This issue finishes up the Ballad of Tallulah Black. Last issue we met Tallulah. She was a whore who got the bad end of the stick. A couple of times. Finally, after her body is a horrible disfigured mess, she goes to Jonah for help. Now we catch up to her 3 months later. Jonah's been training her to shoot and fight. And she's practicing her craft on a man that her and Jonah caught. She's actually turned in to quite the bad-ass bitch. Anyways, they go in to the town that the gang hangs out in. The ones that messed her up pretty bad. Jonah turns in their bounty, and Tallulah goes to the saloon looking for her men. " . . . these vermin are not the sort ta stray far from drink an whores. Seein' as how you employ both on these premises . . . " She calls out Simon, their leader. And they have a good old fashioned gun fight in the street. Tallulah takes out her man, but not before she takes a couple of bullets herself. Jonah takes her to the doc, but there's only so much he can do. She's basically laying on her deathbed, but Jonah has a few tricks up his sleeve. "I can call ya, but comin' back is a matter decided only if'n yore so inclined. A man named Medicine Trees, he's an Apache fella, he taught me the way when I was adopted inta the tribe fer savin' their chief. Ah never told ya that. Did ah?" Well whatever he did works, because she does come back. But then he leaves. "Ya got yer revenge. Somebody else is gonna have ta teach ya how ta live with it." This was a great 2 issue story. Justin Gray & Jimmy Palmiotti did a great job with the scripts. And Phil Noto on art, was just phenomenal. I don't suppose we could get him to stick around on this series? It doesn't hurt to ask. Anyways, fantastic book.
