Uncanny X-Men #484 - Marvel

We're nearing the end of this storyline. Finally! It seems as if it's been going on forever. This is part 10, of 12, of the Rise and Fall of the Shi'ar Empire storyline. But I have to admit, I've learned more about the Shi'ar's, their history and heritage, in this set of issues than I have in the whole long X-men run. Vulcan is working with the Shi'ars in trying to bring Lilandra back, and punisher her and Xavier. Thunderbird is doing some smash & grabs with Korvus. He's trying to talk to him about the whole relationship thing with Rachel, but the part that Thunderbird doesn't understand is that their connection is through the Phoenix, so it feels a lot stronger than either of them anticipated. Nightcrawler is afraid that Rachel is getting a little to reckless and destructive in the use of her powers. The Starjammers just consider her to be battle-hardened. It looks as if the heat of the battle, and the rush of all the emotions, may bring Havok and Polaris back together. Even if it's only for the moment. Lilandra is trying to talk General Ka'ardum in to fighting for his Empire again. She makes a pretty compelling argument. And Vulcan is trying to use his influence over Darwin, to bring him over to his side. He's trying to twist the truth about Xavier to make him doubt which side of the fight he's chosen. I don't think he'll be that easily swayed though. But he does let him know that he'll be executed on the night of his marriage to Deathbird. That's a lot of stuff going on in 1 issue. Only 2 more issue to wrap this one up. But I'm wondering how many issues after that before they finally all get back to earth?
