This issue we get to see the third world that Darren Proffit is running his experiment on. With the Materioptikon, he's been able to run multiple scenario's and learn from each one. Then when he moves on to the next one, he just does the same, but fixes the mistake he made last time. So he's down to 3 more chances. He's already accumulated wealth, fame and power. Now he wants to take over the world. He's just not sure how he should do it. On world #1 he wanted to get the JLA to buy into the concept that the Red King, his alias, was a hero. On world #2 he decided to try to blackmail the JLA, and the world, into total capitulation. Then on world #3, he's simply going to try to beat them in to submission. #3, this issue, is a total failure. He wins, and kills everybody, but he also destroys the rest of the world in the process. So he has nothing to rule over. Basically, the same thing happened on Earth #2. He tried to hold the world hostage with a bomb that could split it, but, something went wrong and the bomb went off by accident. He got rid of the JLA, but only because they were terraforming Mars so they could move everybody there before the world was gone. So, again, no world there for him to rule over. So it looks like he's stuck with scenario #1. But the question is, what are they going to take away from all these scenario's when all 3 of him-selves go back in to the Materioptikon to confer on their results? We do find out though this issue that he got his powers through experimentation with radiation and drugs and other things. So he now has 64 different powers. And as of right now, the JLA doesn't even know what he's doing yet. Except maybe Batman. I think he may be a little suspicious. This is a great story. Very original. I can't wait to see where we go next with it.
