X-Men #196 - Marvel

This one wraps up the storyline with Rogue and Pan. Well . . sort of. "Years ago, Rogue, along with 296 other mutants, had sought out a scientist named Pandemic for help with their mutant powers. Instead of helping the mutants, he was really collecting their mutant powers for himself. He now possesses the powers of nearly 300 mutants." He's already captured Rogue, Iceman, Lady Mastermind and the Omega Sentinel. So Cannonball and Cable, flying overhead in the Conquistador, have dropped Sabretooth into his lap. And he really is the key to taking him down. There's some pretty cool fight scenes, with all of our X-men, but it all comes down to the fight with Sabretooth, when Pan decides to acclimate his powers. But Sabretooth has the last laugh, "Couldn't . . . uhh! . . . resist, could you, pal? I guess it's that whole . . . collector mind-set. Hate to admit it . . . but soldier boy had you dead to rights on that one. 'Cause alongside of all that strength and agility . . . you just absorbed by healin' factor too. Try to keep up doc. You got a virus lets you borrow other people's powers. Right? But then you absorb my power, and my power takes out the virus. Which knocks you right back down to zero. Gives you a clean bill o' health . . . for about the next three seconds." But instead of killing him, Lady Mastermind puts him in some kind of mind maze. But the final tip of the hat is to Pandemic because whatever he's done to Rogue has her immune system in collapse. So now the group has to get her someplace to save her life. And they're in India. Nice story arc by Humberto Ramos. Next issue Chris Bachallo comes back. And that story arc will lead us in to issue #200. I can't wait.
