Omega Men #6 - DC

Well, I wasn't sure how they were going to pull it off, but they end up pulling their fat out of the fire. Last issue ended with Lady Styx absorbing everything around her, and using it to create a massive body for herself. Vril, Tigorr, Broot and Elu are now running for their lives. But then they stop to think. The bigger it gets, the harder it's going to be to take down. So maybe they should just let her absorb them, and then fight it from the inside. It turns out to be a great plan. They go in all the way to her heart, which transforms all the matter it's absorbing, and is made up of the 4 women carrying the heartstones last issue. Well, 2 women, Nimbus and Lianna, 1 guy, Darkfire, and a silicon computer brought to life, Silica. Since Silica manifests itself in the form of a woman, because it's trying to please it's only true love Vril, he uses that against her and starts talking about feeling. It's enough to make her lose her concentration, and therefore her grip on the matrix, and he can pull her out. Well, with one out, the whole thing starts to come apart. Lady Styx tries to fight back, but the combined might of all the participants is just to much for her. And finally as she's nearing death . . . Nimbus eats her. Yuck! But, alls well that ends well. Vril returns the heartstones to OA, with Lianna. Vril and Silica get on with their domestic life. Apron strings and all. And Tigorr makes up for lost time with Nimbus. So I guess things are as back to normal as they'll get for this group of characters. Hopefully we'll see them someplace soon.

Omega Men #5 - DC

This series is about to wrap up. And it's going to go out with a bang. Lianna, the Blue nun has killed Lady Styx. But in comics, and especially in aliens, things are never quite as they seem. After killing her, in trying to obtain the the Heartstone, she has released Tigorr and . . . . . Felicity, Tigorr's wife. Now whether she was there intentionally, or Tigorr brought her there through his beliefs, I don't know, but by pulling them out of the Lady's consciousness, the Heartstone has imbued itself with Felicity, whom now calls herself Nimbus. Also, V'ril Dox's silicon computer, Silica, has now come to life, or obtained sentience. Anyways it's obsessed with finding V'ril Dox, and professing her love to him. She has also become imbued with one of the Heartstones. Well when the 3 of them come together, Silica, Lianna and Felicity, er. Nimbus, all hell hits the fan. First Silica and Nimbus release Dox from the darkness, which is where he and Lady Styx, her essence really, have been hiding. Silica immediately professes her love for Dox, but he rejects her. Which sends her into a rage, and making decisions she shouldn't, is controlled by Lady Styx in bringing the 3 of them together to form her new body out of all of her followers. And the 3 of them, with their heartstones, give her the power. On the final page, as they're watching the Lady's resurrection, Tigorr says to Dox, " . . . next time one of your computers comes to life with the power to destroy reality . . . . just tell the bitch you love her." Awesome mini series, and what a cool way to bring our characters back. Not sure who will be left of the team, when all is said and done. But I'm sure they'll form a new one around the base characters they have left. And does this herald the return of Dox and the LEGION? Like I said, next issue is the last issue, and then we'll have to see where we go from there.

Omega Men #4 - DC

We start out this issue where we ended the last, Tigorr and Lianna being confronted by a cadre of Darkstars. The problem is, they're all former Omega Men, dead Omega Men. And they're lead by Primus. Well, they're all there except for Felicity. Apparently Lady Styx is testing them all. Tigorr is looking for Felicity. Lianna is confronted by Mother Zed. And Vril Dox is contemplating the existence of his soul. Lianna gets so fed up and angry at the situation that she pretty much takes out all the Darkstars by herself. Lady Styx is trying to seduce Vril by appealing to his logic. But, he can out think pretty much anyone. When she chose this playing field, for him, she definitely gave him the advantage. The four heartstones, which everyone is fighting for, are possessed by Silica, Vril's liquid computer suit given life, Wildfire, Lianna and the Spider Queen. Lianna takes out the Spider Queen, I assume thereby absorbing her stone. So, my guess, is that Lianna will be the one to unite all 4 together. The problem is, the way I figure it, is that when that happens, Lady Styx gets what she wants and becomes one with creation. Only 2 books left to sort it all out. Great story and fantastic art.

Omega Men #3 - DC

It seems like a lot of these books are giving us the back stories now. This issue tries to fill us in a lot on the whole Lady Styx thing. It doesn't really give us a lot of her story, but we see how she is affecting, or trying to affect, the rest of the universe. We also get some more explanations on the Heartstones. You know, those four fragments that are floating around that everyone seems to want to get their hands on. Something about putting the four together and giving them some ultimate power. Supposedly, what Lady Styx is up to is, "She's going to kill god. And then swap places." Bit of a grandiose plan, I would think. There's no possibility of something going wrong with that. Anyways, somehow the Omega Men's actions are actually helping her plans come to fruition. They haven't figured it out yet, but they know that somehow they're being played. This is really thrown in their face when, on the final page, they are confronted by a swarm of Darkstars. The problem is, all of these ones, are Tigorr's fallen comrades from over the years in the Omega Men. He's talking to Lianna when he says, "Dunno what's happening sister. But sure as hell looks like . . . . . bein' dead ain't what it used to be." This is a great start to this mini. To bad it's only 6 issues long. Can we maybe do something with these characters after this. Or maybe with L.E.G.I.O.N.. I mean Vril Dox seems to be playing a big role in all of this also. Just a suggestion.

Omega Men #2 - DC

The Omega Men are back, and I couldn't be happier. Also back is Vril Dox, and the LEGION. But, in this issue, he's brought some of the JLA and TT along to help him out. We get to see them in action, and we start to get some of the back story on the characters. Such and Darkfire. He was Ryandr', I suppose he still is, but he's gone through a transformation because of what's happened on his planet. Also, it seems that the Guardians are mixed up in this story somehow. We don't know how or why yet, but they seem to be manipulating both sides of this little skirmish. We also get some of the back story on this nun, Lianna. She's protecting a piece of the heart stone from the Spider's Guild. She also seems to have a lot more power than she's letting on. And in the end, she pronounces herself one of the Omega Men. Anderson Gabrych is writing this and Henry Flint is drawing it. Haven't seen much of Henry's work in a while, but I really like the style he's taking with this book. We're only on issue two, but with what I've seen already, I've got some high hopes for this book.

Omega Men #1 - DC

The Omega Men are back. About time! And of course with their return, we can also expect to see more of L.E.G.I.O.N. and Viril Dox. Also since this series is set in the Vegan Space, I think we're again going to see the Darkstars. None of these groups are gone, after all, they're just so far out of our galaxy, we haven't heard from them in a while. And, since the GL corps have been all but inactive till late, we really haven't had any reason to look that far out into space. But, I think now, and in the near future, we're going to see a lot more of DC's stories taking a galactic theme. After all, they've got a lot of great characters that've been hibernating out there for way too long. Case in point, the "Mystery in Space" title with Captain Comet, the Weird and HardCore Station. Darkfire, Broot, the Doc, Ryand'r are all back. And knowing them, I'm sure they'll pick up some more recruits along the way. In a nutshell, this story is about the "Heartstone". A gem of unknown power that apparently shattered, with it's pieces being sent across the cosmos. Of course one of them ends up on earth. The Spider Guild is after these pieces, trying to put the stone back together, and the Omega Men are trying to stop them. This leads them to the Phillipines, where a nun has a piece of this on her necklace. The Spider Guild show up to take the stone, the Omega Men show up to stop the Spider Guild, and Vril Dox along with Superman, the Titans and Green Lantern show up to stop the Omega Men. How's that for a first issue? Enough action for ya'? If not, I'm sure they'll be more next issue. Anderson Gabrych writes this and Flint Henry does the art. Anderson's story is interesting and complex. And Flint's art lives up to it's usual excellence. This is a six issue mini, obviously spinning out of Infinite Crisis, and it should be a doozy.
