Twelve issues later, and we're finally starting to get into the meat of the matter. Jamie's brought Brenda back from the New Genesis death-trap world, destroyed the Mother-box, actually I think released it is more like it, and is ready for things to get back to normal. Or . . . what passes for normal. That lasts for about a week. Then he has to call in the Peacemaker, to try to help him make sense of some local livestock slayings. The cops think it's coyote's. "Sure it's coyotes. Coyotes with frikkin' energy weapons . . . and a quantum signature. That-a-way." Long story short, it turns out it's some kind of probe from the Reach. But in defeating it, Jamie's starting to learn more about his powers. And more about communicating with the Scarab. But then they get the alien, " . . I am from the Reach. I am this planet's designated negotiator." "The Scarab is a detector. A seed, if you will. When a planet's technology has advanced to certain parameters, it picks a host. The host acts as our agent. Prepares the way. The Reach is here, my friends . . . to save the Earth.", is what he says, as a huge glowing ship appears over it's head. Save the planet from what? Like I said, we're finally getting to the meat of the matter. I imagine over the next couple of issues, we'll be getting a lot of information. What's the Reach? How are the Reach, and Jamie, and the Peacemaker all connected? How much power does Jamie really have? You know, the usual stuff. Anyways, this is where, I think, the story will finally get interesting. We'll see if they can pull it out enough that this book actually has a future. I'm still predicting a short lived series. But . . . we'll see.
