52 - Week Forty Three - DC

Ok, this book took a turn that I wasn't expecting. We start out with Osiris going to the Rock of Eternity. For some reason Billy is calling it the Rock of Finality. Don't know what that's all about. Anyways, Osiris wants some answers because he feels like he's been cursed ever since Black Adam gave him his powers. And now he feels like he's cursing Kahndaq. So he's hoping that Shazam can help him. But, Black Adam and Isis follow him through to the rock. There's a big tussle, and Black Adam ends up talking Osiris in to trying a little harder to do the best he can with his powers. Anyways, later on he's back at the palace, on one of the balconies looking out on his country in turmoil. He's feeling very guilty and distraught. He just feels like his powers are a curse. He's talking to Sobek, because it seems like that's who he spends all of his time with. So Sobek advises, "You can rid yourself of your powers. You can speak Black Adam's name and rid yourself of the curse." So he does it. And . . . . Sobek starts to eat him. Did not see that coming at all. Wow! I really don't know where that came from. We also see Animal Man being experimented on by some aliens. I think they're the same ones he came across originally way, I mean way way way, back in My Greatest Adventures. They do something to him, then put him back out on the asteroid. He has to find some kind of animal life out there, or he's about to become extinct. He hooks up with . . . . . . a sun-eater. Another turn I didn't see coming. And finally we see some kind of space fleet, and what appears to be a birthing ship. A pregnant woman is walking around about to go in to labor when he baby starts to push out from the inside. It rips itself out of the womb, and it's the Lady Styx. I really like this series. All the creative staff is just doing an outstanding job. They all deserve huge props. And we're almost at the end. So there should be some more surprises coming.
