Ghost Rider - Trail of Tears #2 - Marvel

This one is a Ghost Rider tale, wrapped in a western. Basically, last issue, Travis was in the Civil War. Caleb, a free slave, saved his life. Travis wanted to pay him back, but he didn't have any money, so he worked his farm for a couple of years. When he had more than paid off his debt, and now Caleb was indebted to him for all the help that he had provided with the farm, Travis decided to head off in to the "Wild West", and see what his fortune brought him. Two years later he comes back through town, only to find out that some Confederates had decided that it was their right to take back any lands that were taken from them because of the war. So there's a group of about 10 men, lead by 1 man named Reagan. Caleb's farm turned out to be originally owned by 2 brothers that were in that group. So they end up doing some unspeakable things to Caleb and his family, to get their farm back. Travis finds out about all the horrible details of this, and decides to hunt down the men responsible. The 2 brothers on the farm are his first victims. He has to use them to get the information to fill in all the pieces of the puzzle. And Travis is a little zealous in his methods to get that information from the boys. After he's done with them, he heads in to town to find out what the Sheriff has done about any of this. Though this interaction, he finds out that the Dragwells, 4 more of this group of men, live nearby. He goes out for them only to find that they've all been killed. And not in a very polite way either. So now he has to head west, back in to the territories, to find out where Reagan went. This is a fantastic book. Garth Ennis writes it, so nothing short of perfection is expected. And Clayton Crane draws it. He's drawn the last 3 Ghost Rider mini's, counting this one, and the dude is seriously getting better at his craft. Amazing cover and pictures. As I've said with Jonah Hex and Loveless, I can't believe it's the year 2007 and I'm diggin' some westerns. Wonders never cease.
