Flash #9 - DC

Bart is finally starting to come to terms with the fact that he's actually the Flash. He's been wearing the costume for a little while now, but he's actually starting to believe the hype. "I'm the fastest man alive. Actually, forget that. I'm the fastest man who ever was alive." He's recently moved to L.A., for a fresh start. And because he was chasing down Val. But, now that he's there, he's decided to enroll in the Police Academy. Kinda' as a way to pay homage to his Uncle, Barry. So he's trying to work out this relationship thing with Val, but I just don't think he's ready for that right now. It's what he thinks he wants. But, he's got a lot of soul searching and stuff to do right now and honestly it probably wouldn't be fair to try to spend time with her and for an emotional attachment when he's got so many distractions going on right now. But then again, what's love if not doing things that are brash or impulsive. Anyways, the whole story comes down to Steppenwolf, from Apokolips, attacking the Police Station. Bart found some kind of device after he fought Impulse (??), and he put it in his locker. Well now someones come to retrieve it. He completely knows he's outclassed and outgunned, but he still tries to stop him. But he just can't seem to throw anything big enough at him. Then the JLA shows up. Well . . . Green Lantern, Red Arrow and Black Canary actually. And they take him down swiftly. Even with all his powers, he is completely in awe of these people. "It's on thing to read about them . . . it's another to even know them . . . but seeing them in action . . . these are giants walking astride the earth." Robin gives him a holler to tell him that they miss him and want him to come back to the Titans. But he says he wants to wait until he's ready. But I don't think he's waiting till he's ready for the Titans. I think he's waiting until he's ready for the JLA. We have a new creative team on board this issue. Marc Guggenheim writing, and Andy Kuhn, Ron Adrian and Art Thibert on the art chores. It really was a great issue. This character has so much potential that I feel like they just need to pick a direction, stick with it, and then run it as far as they can. And that's what I feel like they started with this issue. I know this sounds cliched, but I really think the best is yet to come.
