Uncle Sam & the Freedom Fighters #8 - DC

This issue finally wraps up this series. And Uncle Sam & the Freedom Fighters came out on top. Just like we knew they would. It appears that Father Time was working on their behalf the whole time. His plan was to bring a team to the forefront that could protect the nation. But they had to be believed in, by the government and it's people. The only way to do that was to make them the underdogs. He had to make them face great adversity, and then, when they triumphed, they would be the beloved heroes of a great nation. Did anybody see that coming? I just thought Father Time was a narcissistic bastard. Who knew? Anyways, we got our team. It's Uncle Sam, of course, the Ray, the original, Lady Liberty, the Red Bee, the Human Bomb, Black Condor, Firebrand, Phantom Lady and Doll Man. Although Doll Man is on the fence about continuing government service. But . . . what else is a 4 inch man going to do? Now that they've saved the country, the acting President has asked them to take over control of SHADE, clean it up, and continue protecting our borders. And Gonzo has been taken care of, by Father Time and Replicant. He's been turned in to an Orphan Box. Kind of like a Mother Box, but different. So there's definitely some Apocalypse ties to this series also. They've been popping up in the shadows of a bunch of books lately. Apparently they're getting ready to make a big play for the earth. Father Time eludes that they were the ones who made Gonzo. The next issue box says there's more of Uncle Sam & the Freedom Fighters on it's way. Yippee!! Justin Gray & Jimmy Palmiotti have just done a fantastic job with this series. Of course they had a fantastic set of characters to work with. Also Daniel Acuna's artwork has been insanely brilliant. I really just can't say enough about this series. I don't know what's next for them, but if it continues on from what's been started here . . . . it's gonna' be a home-run. Thanks, to all involved, for the great story. Hope to see ya soon!
