Superman: Last Stand of New Krypton #1 - DC

This story picks up from Action Comics and Adventure Comics. Right now New Krypton is under siege from Brainiac's probe-bots. At first they're unsure as to whether he's trying to destroy the planet, or just capture the city as he had done before. But they soon learn that the robots seem to be striking at the members of the council first. The whole planet is basically just reacting, until Zod decides to test his global defense cannons by firing them directly at Brainiac's ship. The problem is . . there's a whole squad of Kryptonians up there trying to bring Brainiac down. The shot kills everyone near the ship, but doesn't breach it's defenses. Furious over Zod's actions, Kal-El denounces his rank of Commander, and instead flies under the familiar banner of Superman as he tries to take on Brainiac on his own. Meanwhile, the Legion, along with Conner and Mon-El, have shown up. They're here to help, but also to offer a warning. Brainiac needs to be stopped, but the ship cannot be destroyed. All the cities that Brainiac has captured are still in there. And the Legion has found that they are pivotal to the future of the universe. Those cities will bring planets back to life and repopulate worlds. So after giving this information to Zod, what does he do? He has them all arrested as lunatics. On the ship Superman discovers that Brainiac and Luthor are working in league with each other. I'm guessing that Zod is in on their plan also. I'm attack guessing that Brainiac's attack on New Krypton is Zod's attempt to gain absolute power. And then . . he can declare war on Earth. I'm just guessing. I'm not sure what the master plan is. But, Brainiac seems to have come prepared this time. His probe-bots are equipped with red-sun energy weapons. And on the ship, Brainiac and Luthor are fighting Superman with Kryptonite powered weapons. They look like the weapons from Squad K. You know . . General Lane, and project 7734. James Robinson and Sterling Gates are writing this 3 issue mini. With Pete Woods doing the art. This story with New Krypton is far from over . . even though the series is. I have a feeling it's going to be an exciting couple of months with Brainiac and the Legion involved. And maybe, finally, we can find out what project 7734 is all about. Maybe?
