Ex-Machina #48 - WildStorm

Well here we are . . 2 issues away from the series finale. And Brian K Vaughn still does more character development in this issue than some series have done over the last 6 issues. That's part of the reason that I'm going to be so sad to see this series end. It's very well written. It's a 'smart' series that gets you thinking about things, and draws the reader into the character's lives. Even this late in the game, we still get information into January and Journal's lives and relationships. And we start to see part of the reason that January would be so easily duped into believing that her sister's death was the Mayor's fault. When Suzanne found her, she latched on like a fish looking for water. The same way she did with Kremlin. Which he's just now finally realizing . . after she killed the Mayor's mother. At least he does the decent thing and calls to give him that message . . and try to apologize. But between all this stuff with Suzanne, and the political differences between he and Wylie . . I think the Mayor is starting to feel more than a little overwhelmed. He'd already announced that this would be his only term. Now I'm thinking he can't wait to get the hell out of this office. All through this series it's always been the Mayor that's kept things together . . that's been the voice of reason. It's different, and kind of sad, to see here at the end that everything is starting to fall apart. But I think we all feel that way sometimes. I think we all feel like we generally have our act together, but . . everything is built on a house of cards. If one thing goes out of whack, the whole thing could come tumbling down. Not that it necessarily would, but . . I feel we tend to think that way. And that's what the Mayor's going through right now. I have a feeling the next 2 issues are going to be very interesting. Have any of you had a chance to pick up the TPBs for this series yet? If you aren't reading it, I think you'll really enjoy what they have to offer. Between Brian's stories, and Tony Harris' art . . this series has been a home-run since issue #1. Great job guys, and thanks!
