X-Men Legacy #218 - Marvel

This was another great issue in this story-arc. Although, we kind of knew what was going to happen this issue. There really wasn't any surprises. It just still kind of creeps me out about how comfortable Miss Sinister feels in her new hot female form, considering that she's been all male up until recently . . some 200+ years? But I guess after being dead for a little while . . she's just celebrating being alive. Right? Anyways, last issue Claudine tries to break down the barriers within Daken's mind, but finds out instead that there's traps set up in there. Mind-bombs, if you will. So she and Sebastian have decided to let Charles do their dirty work for them. And, right on cue, they come rolling up to the island this issue. I did think it was kind of neat how Charles takes over one of the birds minds to do a little reconnaissance. Long story short, Wolverine fights Sebastian, Charles fights Claudine, and eventually Charles makes it to the lab where they're holding Daken. Finding him, he just starts going at it . . he doesn't stop to assess the situation. He jumps into Daken's mind and starts swimming about the surface memories, but it isn't long before he comes upon the barrier. When he does . . . he's knocked out, and Daken's jolted awake . . supposedly with all of his memories in tact. But that doesn't stop Claudine from moving in and trying to take advantage of his current weakness. She tries to fill his head with false memories . . memories of her and Sebastian being his family. "Thank you. That's a beautiful story. But it didn't take.", Daken whispers into Claudine's ear as he's holding her tight . . and then guts her. He's mad because he's feeling used by everybody. He's about to take Charles out when Wolverine stops him. "Kid. We both know that ain't gonna' happen!" So it looks like next issue . . it's Daken vs. Wolverine. First of all this issue has a beautiful Mike Deodato Jr. cover. As usual Mike Carey does the story, and Scot Eaton does the art. I have to say, I'm really impressed with Scot's pencils. He's really shown his strength in recent issues of this series. He brings a nice feel to the book. Wolverine Origins #30 will be the final installment of this story-arc. I still think Charles is somehow connected to Romulus, but . . we'll see.
