DCUniverse Halloween Special #1 - DC

For what it was . . a series of short stories revolving around a Halloween type theme . . this book was ok. I appreciated the influx of talent that this book delivered. The writers here include Dan Didio, Mike Johnson, Eddie Berganza, Mikey Way, Harvey Richards, Brian Reed, Duncan Rouleau, Brad Desnoyer, Mark Verheiden and Eric Wallace. Some established, some . . not so much. But, overall I thought it was an enjoyable read. The art was delivered by Gene Ha, Tony Shasteen, Matthew Clark, Trevor Hairsine, Mateus, Federico Dallocchio, Darick Robertson, Duncan Rouleau, Riccardo Burchielli, Dennis Calero and Tony Shasteen. Again . . overall, enjoyable. As far as visuals go, I would have to say that Trevor's and Darick's work were easily my favorites. But Duncan's and Federico's were both pretty impressive also. The stories were all ok. Sometimes a bit predictable, but overall enjoyable. Unfortunately the only one that really has any relevance to the events in the DC Universe was the story about Felix Faust and his son. In it we find out first of all how Felix gets out of Fate's tower . . he tricks his son into helping him. And then we find out that when Felix was trying to help Black Adam . . he was really only helping himself. As if that swayed from the norm in any way. He told Adam that he couldn't bring Isis back to life because he was missing a bone. However, as we saw in the mini-series, he had it in his possession the whole time. So, now that he's out, and Isis is under his control, the question is . . what is he going to do with her? And, what is Black Adam going to do about it? Which leads directly into the next story-arc over in JSA, immediately following the Gog/Kingdom Come story-line. Like I said, overall I enjoyed the book. But, I would be hard pressed to pick which one I liked better . . . this compilation, or Tree-house of Horror. Of course, that's like comparing apples and oranges, but . . still . . .
