Ultimate Origins #5 - Marvel

Well, it appears that we're going to be going right from this issue into the March on Ultimatum story-line. The monolith's were indeed the Watchers, and the one that the Fantastic Four come into contact with, in the government bunker, is Uatu. They're pretty much like the Watchers in the regular Marvel Universe, they just look different. We find out through this series that basically all the super-heroes running around were created by man. And it seems like everything stems out of the super-soldier program, in one way or another . . . including mutants. Dr Malcolm Colcord, in the Canadian Weapon X program, was trying to create a version of the American super-soldier program. However, in the process, he created a new gene, and thereby . . . mutants. But nobody knows that except for Nick Fury, and his group of commandos. "Burn it. Everything and everyone. If the world ever finds out what went on in this place . . . if mutants ever find out . . if the world ever finds out that man invented mutants . . . the entire Earth will burn." However, he does let one go . . . T'Challa Udaku. And therein lies the problem. I really think Magneto is going to snap when he finds out the truth. "Humans and mutants cannot live together in peace. God has selected the mutant as the dominant species on the planet!!! God did this!! It's his will!! AND WHO ARE YOU TO DEFY IT!!??" I do have one question though, there's a flash-back scene . . the one with this dialogue . . it happened years ago, in the Savage Land, and it shows Magneto killing Xavier. Does that fit with the rest of the Ultimate X-Men story-line? That little tidbit kind of has me confused. Oh, and at the end of the issue, the Watcher picks it's herald . . . Rick Jones. I loved this mini. I thought Brian Bendis and Butch Guice did a fantastic job with it. And with Jeph Loeb and David Finch doing the Ultimatum book . . I really can't wait to see what they have in store for us.
