X-Men Annual #1 - Marvel

Ok, I have to admit, this was the best Marvel Annual of the season, so far. Really, this whole story was set up to bring Northstar and Aurora back into the fold. As Rogue says, " . . . . too few of us left these days, without throwing away the good ones." So they're aboard a SHEILD heli-carrier using their VR equipment. Their theory is that if they use the VR equipment to brainwash them with their actual first 20 years of life, that they should be able to undo the bad programming by the Children of the Vault. It looks funny, the heli-carrier hanging in the air off the coast, and the Conquistador right next to it. Rogue has a very small strike team, consisting of just herself, Mystique and Cable. Probably so they're less threatening to the SHIELD agents. Anyways, Exodus has also assembled a team, and strikes the heli-carrier almost simultaneously. You don't really know who they're after, but, all they're really after is some information Cable has in his head. He wants to build a future version of Cerebro, so he can detect the mutant births around the world, and begin repopulating Genosha. The problem is, "The Decimation altered the entire human genome, the x-gene isn't appearing anymore. Out of the hundred million live births, not one mutant." This information sends Exodus into a frenzy. So he goes to Antarctica to consult with . . . . . Mr. Sinister. Great story by Mike Carey and fantastic artwork by Mark Brooks. So it looks like Rogue has 2 new members to her team now.
