New Avengers #27 - Marvel

This issue we learn that Maya Lopez, also known as Echo, is now also known as Ronin. Didn't see that one coming. It's a pretty convincing disguise that has your alter ego as the opposite sex. Don't think anyone will see through that one. Anyways, this issue is told in E-mail form, from Maya to Matt Murdock. It seems that in her quest to keep an eye on Japan, she crossed the Hand. And by crossing the hand, that means by proxy, that you're also bringing down the wrath of Elektra on your head. Now Ronin is very good, but, he's not Elektra good. Which means . . . . that she ends up killing him, 'er her. Which also means . . . . that she bring him, 'er her, back to life to put her in the service of the hand. Which Maya knows may be an inevitability, so she's asking Matt, if he receives this message, to send whoever he can to come and help her. Because, if he's receiving this message, then she knows she is dead. Which they do come, enmasse. They have a huge throw down with the Hand. And then Doctor Strange teleports them out with an unconscious Maya. But Elektra has order the Hand not to let them leave Japan. Great book by Bendis and Yu. But we have to ask ourselves how is the Civil War going to change this book. Especially since the team seems split. And knowing that in the coming months there's going to be 2 Avengers books. Well if anyone can pull it off, it's Brian Bendis. Can't wait to see how this all plays out.
