This book, and this issue in particular, was fantastic. Besides Jonah being one of the best characters out there, Phil Noto's artwork on this issue was incredible. The detail, the coloring, and the expressions on the people's faces, was just mesmerizing. I've gone back and looked through it a few times. This issue is mostly about Tallulah Black. This woman cannot catch a break. First some govt. people, supposedly, come to take her land. She argues, but they just end up killing all her family and kin, and leave her for dead. So now, with nothing to her name, and loosing an eye in the shoot out, she turns to whoring. But a year later, who comes in to the establishment she's working at? None other that the prick that shot her and thought she was dead. So he takes her upstairs and beats the crap out of her. He also carves her up, top and bottom. So wanting revenge and payback, she goes on a trek looking for Jonah Hex. But, in the process, she ends up in this little town, 2 or 3 buildings at the most, and the guy that runs the General Store, knocks her out, ties her to the bed in a wedding gown, and plans on killing her. "Best be nice to me, or you'll end up in the yard like the others. They too had sass, an' it didn't do them a' bit a' good in the finish." But finally her luck changes and Jonah just happens to walk in to the same store. She tries to hire him, but he's really not interested. Not until she says, "Ah don't want ya ta kill them men. Ah want ya to show me how ta do it." So this is the first chapter of the story of Tallulah Black. Fantastic book. I can't wait for the second part.
