Another fantastic mini-series by Clayton Crain and Garth Ennis. With those 2 at the creative helm, how could you expect anything less than comic perfection. This one is set in Civil War times. It's starts out with a battlefield where . . . it seems that the soldiers from both sides . . . cannot be killed. The General who thinks he's won the battle, has soldiers coming after him with gaping cannon holes through their chests. And torsos of men, dragging themselves across the ground, ready to shoot at anyone they come across. As if the image of this war wasn't disturbing enough. And what's really cool is that, in Clayton's painted style, he makes each panel of the war scenes look like an old photograph. So each page is essentially a photo album, with the photographs arranged in a way to tell a story. Awesome! The 2 main characters are this Caleb guy, he's black, who finds Travis Parham on the battlefield, and pulls him off and tends to his wounds. Caleb has been free for about 10 years. Travis works his farm, to pay off the debt of him saving his life. He sticks around for 2 years helping him till his land. Finally he decides it's time to move on. But as he's getting ready to leave, we see 3 horsed men, in white hoods, overlooking the land. They're coming after 1 of them, but we don't know which one. Also, we really don't know which one is going to be the Ghost Rider. And in this time, will he be riding a flaming horse? A fantastic start to a new mini-series. I can't wait to see where we go from here.
I spend a lot of time and money buying and reading comics. Most of the time I'm happy with my choices, sometimes not. I'm hoping, that with my reviews on what I've read, I might spare someone else dissapointment. I'll read anything, but I can't afford everything. If there's something you'd like for me to read, let me know. If you take the time to read this, please, take the time to let me know what you think. I may not agree with you, or you may not agree with me. But, so what. That's life.
