Last issue, the JLA defeated Dr. Destiny. He had 6 1/2 billion people trapped in his materioptikon, through their dreams, including the JLA. Anyways, when they beat him, his materioptikon fell at the feet of one of the dreamers. Darren Proffit to be exact. Well he decided to use it for something, since nothing good ever happened to him. He used up all the energy, from all 6 1/2 billion people, and narrowed it down to 3 different realities. Of course this was after he had garnered wealth, power and fame. So he built a super suit, and called himself Red King. This issue, he uses that suit, and the powers in it, to win over the JLA. It seems like he does, but Superman and Batman are a little skeptical. He then sets up the ultimate win. As Darrin Proffit, billionaire, he backs the RFG and enhances their powers. Then as the Red King, he enters the fray with just the weapon the JLA needs to defeat them. And "presto", he's the hero of the day. He goes back in to the materioptikon to see if his other 2 selves have checked in. But, they have not. So he has to assume that their realities are going as well as his. Which is what the next 2 issues are going to be about. Checking in on the other 2 realities. Cool story and concept. It'll be interesting to see how this story line plays out.
