Wolverine #50 - Marvel

Sorry about the small cover. I couldn't get a bigger on. This has a great story by Jeph Loeb, and beautiful art and cover by Simone Bianchi. My only complaint, and it's really miniscule, is that the variant cover was nothing more than this same cover but just pencils. To me, that's not a variant. And I don't think it's worth shelling out another $4 for. But anyways that's just me. As you know from recent X-men stories, Sabretooth has taken up residency at the Xavier Arms. Wolverine, having just found out about it, has decided to do something about it. So he goes and tries to kill Sabretooth. But they're just to evenly matched. But, as they're fighting, more memories are flooding back to him. He remembers Creed saying to him one time, "Quod Sum Eris", which means "I am what you will be". So what does that mean? Well we aren't going to find out this issue. Creed has already snapped Logan's neck once. Now Wolvie's ready to return the favor, by popping his claws into Sabretooth's head. Then SNIKT!! . . . . . . . the stories over until next issue. Great cliffhanger ending! Then we have a backup story. Basically it's a retelling of the first Wolvie story where he fights the Hulk. This one is again by Jeph Loeb and Ed McGuinness. But this one ends with the Hulk ripping Logan in half, and when he does he has the black X-men costume on. Plus he looks older. So what's that all about? Not going to find out this issue. Great book. Definitely worth the $4. It's up to you if you want to spend that much again though, on a mediocre variant. You know what this is reminding me of? When Image first started, they started putting out variants for everything. And both Marvel and DC have been doing a lot of that lately. They're doing 1:1, 1:10, 1:25 and even 1:50 covers. But I have a clue for both of you, the average consumer, if they buy a variant cover, are not picking up something else. So it's going to be a trade-off. Would you rather sell more titles, or more of the same book? I think we're missing the big picture here.
