This one is showcasing Hawkman, obviously, which will lead in to his return to the DC Universe. He hasn't really gone anywhere, but we haven't seen him in about a year. He been out fighting and helping in the Rann/Thannagar war. And before he can head back, he's vowed to take down Blackfire. He does so, and he also takes away her powers, with the same machine that the Psion's used to give them to her. Hawkgirl, also helps in the take-down, mainly because Blackfire got greedy, and after she thought she took down Hawkman, she wanted to say that she did all 3. So she went after Kendra. They all teleported back to Rann, and that's where they beat her. So now they're headed home. And this story continues in Hawkgirl #60. This issue shows why Walt Simonson is still a creative force to be reckoned with. Fantastic story, and superb art. I mean, he was at his height during the Beta Ray Bill storyline, and that was almost 30 years ago. If you were to put that book, next to this one, 30 years later, you'd be hard pressed to pick which one looked better. Yes he's that good. That's part of the reason I'm in to Hawkgirl right now, because he writes it. So hat's off to Walt. Thanks!
