Ghost Rider #21 - Marvel

This was actually an ok book. I know. There's lots of Ghost Rider fans out there. But, honestly, after the creative change . . . I feel that the best we can hope for right now is . . . Ok! Maybe I'm a little pessimistic. But . . . sorry! Anyways, Johnny is trying to find his way to the pearly gates so that he can find out just what Zadkiel has in mind for him. He feels like he's been manipulated right from the start. But now with this new information on Zadkiel, he feels even more so. On his quest, he comes across this hospital. There's reports of a boy who recently died for a few minutes and came back, but now . . now he's terrified of angels. To Johnny, this sounds like somebody who might have some information. The problem he runs in to is that the nurses at this hospital are all in the service of Zadkiel. Basically there's a war going on between heaven and hell. But right now . . it's at a standstill. I'm thinking that Johnny really isn't going to have to go looking for Zadkiel, because Zadkiel needs him, and his power, to sway the tide of battle. Sooner or later, Zadkiel's going to come for him. Anyways, these homicidal nurses come, tracking them down after they escape, and Johnny has to use his hell-fire to curb their onslaught. But on the way out of town, he finds something else blocking his way. Highway 18, out of town, was built over the sight where 78 settlers had become snowbound, in 1845, for 5 months. When rescuers finally arrived, the group of 78 had been dwindled to 1. Basically, when they ran out of food, they murdered and ate each other, until there was only 1 left. So at night, that stretch of road becomes haunted, claiming more victims. It turns out the funeral director in town, Mr Wojciehowicz, is the direct descendant of that final survivor. Like I said, it was an ok story, but it was kind of scattered. These 2 parts of the story really don't have any connection, other than they're happening in the same town. But it seems they're kind of being forced together. And not very subtly. I also thought the artwork was pretty weak. Especially compared to what came before. I know if you're going to change, you have to go for something completely different. But this is a bit . . extreme. Jason Aaron is the writer, and Roland Boschi is the artist. I was rather disappointed but, I love the character. So what am I gonna' do?
