Ultimate Spider-man #121 - Marvel

I really like this book. This particular story ended up being a big "the dog ate my home-work" story-line. Maybe I should explain. Yes Spider-man fought Omega Red. Again! And yes he did, eventually win. He saves Jonah, and the rest of the Bugle staff's life, but, in obvious fashion, Jonah wants to bill him for all the damage done to the bull-pen. But all of that was just a small part of the story. The real story . . and I'm not making this up, it's in the book, you can read it for yourself . . the real story was that it was time for Peter's class to turn in their homework. You remember. They had an assignment where they were supposed to take care of an animated baby, treating it like it was real, and team-up with someone in their class. Well Peter got teamed up with Kitty. Their relationship was already volatile. But this just fed fuel to the flames. It turns out that with everything that happened last issue with Liz Allen and the X-Men and all . . Kitty's fed up. She's fed up with the X-Men, she's fed up with Peter, she's even fed up with school. But in particular she's fed up with this assignment, so she gives the baby to Peter to take care of. Well, that happens to be the same day that Peter goes to work and Omega Red decides that he's fed up with the way Jonah is talking about him in his articles. Long story short . . Omega Red got beat, and the baby got trashed. So, as Peter and Kitty stand up in class to turn in their homework, Peter opens the blanket to reveal the baby in charred and barely negligible pieces. Hence "the dog ate my homework" argument. I really think that Stuart Immonen has acclimated nicely to this book. He stepped in for Mark Bagley several issues ago, and, not so surprisingly, hasn't missed a beat. Of course the writer, Brian Bendis has been the driving force, and the constant, on this book since it's inception. And, if you ask me, it seems that he has a special place in his heart for it. He really has an incredible handle on all of these characters and, as expected, continues to blow us away with his stories . . issue after issue after issue . . well, you know what I mean. So far this title has been 121 issues of perfection.
