Salvation Run #6 - DC

Again, unfortunately, this is another book that's a little out of whack . . time-line wise. But it's not as big of a deal, because, really, it only affects the ending. Things are hitting a fever pitch on the planet right now. Last issue, Catwoman, who had escaped from the dream-like device that was holding her, was branded as a traitor. A traitor to what, I'm not sure. But a traitor to Lex at the very least. During the skirmish with her, it was found out that J'onn J'onzz was hiding amongst their ranks posing as Blockbuster. This issue we see that Lex has built a fiery cage for J'onn, but we don't really know what they're doing with Catwoman. We actually don't see her at all this issue. Anyways, Thunder and Lightning are also part of the group, and having been Titans, they decide to try to help J'onn. That is of course until Bane beats them down. Vandal Savage is also working with his group of women, trying to build their little Utopia in their little corner of the landscape. And Lex and the Joker finally go at it this issue. It's a fight to the death . . until . . boom tubes start going off all over the planet. Lex quickly tries to rally the forces but by the time he looks up again, the skies are filled with Parademons. I told you how in the Death of the New Gods book, Desaad had built this planet to train his parademons on. When the villains were being sent in to outer-space, Desaad had intercepted the signal, so they all landed here instead of their intended planet. This is where the time-lines are screwy. In Countdown to Final Crisis, and the Death of the New Gods, all the beings from the Fourth World, New Genesis and Apokolips, are now dead. Including Desaad. So obviously this happens, before those people are killed. Like I said, it's not enough to distract me from the story, but it is something to think about. How do they explain that? Matthew Sturges, I thought, has done a decent job with this story. Especially considering what he's had to work with. Next issue is the final issue, and I still don't see what the purpose of all of this is. I like Sean Chen's pencils, but my only complaint is that all the faces tend to look the same. Sorry. I tend to notice the little things. As far as his flow and framing go . . I think he's great. I just have that one little complaint. Well that, and . . I hope next issue we finally find out what this is really all about. We're not being told something.
