Ultimate Fantastic Four #46 - Marvel

This issue wraps up the story about Revka Temerlune. Or . . the Ultimate Psycho Man. I guess. In the Ultimate universe, Norrin Radd, is the herald for King Temerlune. And once the Psycho Man got here, he basically enslaved the entire population of earth, and made it look exactly like Norrin Radd's home planet of Zenn-la. Reed, being the brain he is, discovers that he can disrupt the signal that's brain-washing everybody with sonics. He frees Johnny and Sue first. He tries to free Ben, but there's no mind left in his body to free. So he then frees Norrin. He was hiding in plain sight, as a statue. They then set out to find the machine that's generating the signal. Which leads them to a trap. But being the Fantastic Four, they beat the trap and continue towards the signal. It ends up that everything is coming from the Psycho Man. He solely creates and controls the signal. There's no way they can beat him, and his advance sciences. So they try to reason with him. He had been keeping Enid, Reed's little sister, close to him because he had become attached to her. And when Reed and Norrin are talking to him, he doesn't like that they think that basically he's created 6 billion slave. So they come to an agreement that he'll release his hold on Enid and let her decide. Of course she wants to be with her brother. Which infuriates the King. So he then bestows his power on Reed, thinking that he'll destroy his mind, or drive him insane. But he severely underestimated Reeds intellectual prowess. Not only does Reed get control of the power, and the 6 billion minds that the King has thrust on him, but he also turns that power against him. He frees the Earth, and everything goes back to normal. Before he loses the power, he even uses it to erase everybody's memories of the previous few days. As for the Psycho Man, I'm not sure if he's trapped him in a reality in his own head, or if he just pushed him over the edge, towards insanity. But either way, he's not going to be a problem for the FF for a while. Great story by Mike Carey. With incredible art by Pasqual Ferry. This book, as with Spider-man, revels in the nature that is the Ultimate universe.
