Catwoman #71 - DC

Well, this is it. It's over for Catwoman. Well . . . not exactly. Really she's just tired of her and Helena's life always being in jeopardy. So . . she's decided that she needs to kill off her Irene Dubrovna identity. So she's asked Batman to help her with that. Which he does in a very public display. So now the world thinks Irene and Helena are gone. But what does that mean for Selina? Will she be able to go back to her old identity, or is that compromised also? I don't think she's thought it that far out, but, at the end of this issue, she tells Batman that she has one more favor to ask him. I'm guessing, but I'm willing to bet that she wants to reinvigorate the persona of Catwoman as a villain. Bad guys don't seem to come after one of their own. So she needs to be thought of as back in those ranks, if she's going to protect her daughter. Kind of extreme, if you ask me. But, I'll guess we'll have to wait and see how it all shakes out. Also, what does all this have to do with her wanting to join the Outsiders? Lots of questions, and not to many answers. Yet! I think that Will Pfeifer is doing a fantastic job with this series. I think he and penciller David Lopez have a great handle on Selina and her life in Gotham. Sure the artwork isn't stunning, but, it does fit with the feel and the tone of this series. It's not flashy, but, it's consistent. So it appears that Catwoman will be reinventing herself . . . again. Good luck with that.
