New X-Men #42 - Marvel

This is like an in-between chapter. They're giving the kids a chance to catch up from all the craziness they've been through lately. I mean, the book isn't completely devoid of action. But . . these kids really do deserve a little respite. That's what it is too . . . . just a little. Our senior team-members, Hank, Scott, Emma, Peter and Kitty, have realized that they've left the kids to their own devices way to much. They didn't do it on purpose. It's not like they aren't busy too. But . . . they did. And now they feel bad about it. And they feel like they owe the kids some face-time. Hank and Peter have gone outside to test Santo's, Rockslide, powers. Victor's there to egg him on too. It's hilarious. Much like you might suspect the first X-men of behaving when they were young and impetuous. Logan takes Pixie to train, to the Danger Room. We don't really see what happens between them, but later on Logan is chasing her down the hall, in a cloud of her dust, and he's screaming "$#%^ing Unicorns!" Meanwhile, the younger X-men have been trying to figure out who the youngest among them might be. The reason being, whoever it is, is probably the youngest mutant on the planet, which means they'll probably be the next to die. Kind of a morbid thought. But, it keeps them entertained. But for some reason, Nori is seeming kind of distant from David right now. It even gets to the point, when everyone's together in the common room, I guess, that she grabs Indra and lays a big old kiss on him. I'm not sure if she's trying to make him jealous, or if she's trying to piss him off, or just put some distance between them. But, whatever the reason, I think it worked. And at the end, we see that there's somebody hunting Predator X. We don't know why, other than it has something to do with sicking it on our young X-men. I think that Christopher Yost and Craig Kyle are doing a fantastic job with these stories. I really like the emotional roller-coaster that they keep putting them through. They really are just a young group of kids. And they're acting as such. Not just like a younger version of the X-men. In the backup story, Chapter 12 of our Endangered Species story-line, Hank and Hank make the next logical step, and turn to the Guthries for help. Hank is trying reason to get the mother to help them with their dilemma. While the Dark Beast is up to his usual shenanigans and tries to elicit their help through deceit. In doing so he poisons Lewis. As he's standing there holding his twitching vomiting body, he just says, "So what do you think Henry? Try one of the girls next?" This is turning out to be a pretty good story also. I can't wait to see how it all plays out.
