Black Adam #2 - DC

Black Adam is truly scary. And not just because of all the carnage that he's brought to the world. And not just because he's evil, and he has the power to back it up. No, I think, Black Adam's scary because he's really insane. In his head there's a purpose to everything that he's doing, but really . . . he's just justifying his actions. And I don't think it's because he feels guilty, or that he's trying to make himself feel better. I think it's just because, in his head, he's playing a game of chess. And in chess everything's connected, and everything affects each other. He's after the prize, and there can only be 1 winner. He's calm and calculating on the inside. But on the outside, he's a raging storm of emotion. Right now, his mission appears to be trying to bring back Isis. In doing so he has traversed the globe, and ended up at the doorstep of Fate. His understanding is that Fate has Isis' amulet. And he's going to need it to bring her back. He's brought a piece of the Rock of Eternity to help him gain entrance to his tower. But all he finds there is Faust. So they form an unholy alliance, to try to accomplish what Black Adam couldn't do alone . . . . to bring back his wife . . . and his powers. But he may have to sacrifice one . . for the other. And who doesn't think this union has "bad news" written all over it? I think, so far, this is a fantastic mini-series. Peter Tomasi and Doug Mahnke seem to really have a handle on this character. And I really think it's just going to keep getting better from here.
