the Spirit #8 - DC

I'm sorry, but I'm just not liking this book any more than when I first started reading it. Which is sad, because I am a fan of Darwyn Cooke and J Bone. Both of them have done some amazing stuff for comics. Unfortunately . . . this isn't one of them. This issue, basically, Octagon has come into possession of a nuclear device. They want to set it off in the middle of Central City. Somehow, our blue boy found out where Octopus was hiding. The Octopus ends up capturing him, but he does break free. He's doing pretty well, actually, until his friend, agent Satin comes bursting on the scene and ends up knocking down our hero, instead of the evil genius. In the confusion, Octopus knocks both of them out. But whatever he did to Satin, caused her to have amnesia. While she was out, the Spirit found the bomb. But he doesn't know now to defuse it. And, since Satin currently has amnesia, neither does she. Long story short, they end up shutting off the bomb. Satin punches Spirit in the eye for kissing her to try to break her amnesia. The Spirit's girlfriend, worrying about his well being, comes looking for him, and breaks in just as they shut off the bomb. She also finds out that he kissed Satin, and gives him a second black eye. And that's the end of the story. Like I keep saying, where's the hook? Where's the edge? I'm really having a hard time justifying my spending $3 on this every month. It might have to be cut.
