Countdown #42 - DC

What a thrilling book. With so many characters to cover, every week, we really get a whole lot of information every issue. Oh, and have I mentioned that I love this weekly comic thing? We start out with the Trickster and Piper. It looked like they were either abducted or killed last issue. Now we find out that they were definitely abducted. By whom? My guess . . . the Suicide Squad. Anyways, Tricksters having a bad dream about the Flash's death, which wakes him up to his predicament. And he finds himself shackled to Piper. Meanwhile, Mary Marvel has gone to Gotham and finds that the Riddler is no longer a bad guy. But not till after she almost beats him up. He's digging in to a robbery, and to prove it enlists Mary's help. We also see Holly and Harley becoming friends at the Amazon Spa. Harley's showing her around, and explaining to her how much Athena has helped her. Meanwhile, Donna, Jason and the Monitor, have gone to Ryan Choi's house. They want him to aid them in their search for Ray Palmer. After all, right now, he's the only one with size controls. Mary and the Riddler find out that it's Clayface who's behind the robbery. Mary, in her exuberance, captures him in a wind tunnel and sends him in to outer space. A little extreme. Really. Also Karate Kid approaches Batman. He says it's to say good-bye. But I think there's more to it than that. We get a peak at Jimmy Olsen. He's trying to figure out what he's going to name himself as a super-hero. And finally, Trickster and Piper break out of their gauntlets, and their holding cell, only to find out that they were actually in an airplane, and now . . . they're in freefall. Great story by Paul Dini. He was assisted this issue by Sean McKeever and Tony Bedard. That's gotta be a lot of work for 1 guy. Yowsa! And Carlos Magno and Mark McKenna do the artwork. Very nice looking issue. And I really like that Terry and Rachel Dodson cover.
