Countdown #45 - DC

Like the 52 book, this one is just chock full of story-lines and characters. You don't necessarily have to buy all the titles to keep up. But I'll tell you what . . . it helps. The parts of the stories you see in this book, you don't see in the titles. And the parts in the titles are different than what we get here. That's not to say you need each other to support each other. It's just that one part leads in to the next, which leads in to the next, which leads in to the next, and so on and so on. You can figure the story out without all of it. But it's a much better story if you get all the parts. We start out this book with Jason and Donna . . . yes they've been around each other a lot lately . . in Washington at the site of the Amazon's attack. But that's not their concern. They've been introduced to Forerunner. Last issue it looks like she had them on the ropes. But this issue Donna makes a stand. But it's all moot because one of the other Monitors intervenes and stops her in her tracks. This upsets her because this is what her whole life has lead to. This has been her sole purpose. But the Monitor says "No more." She goes off in disgrace and alone. But someone is watching her, and looking to recruit her. We also have Jimmy wondering about his New God connection. And the cryptic message that Sleez started to tell him before he was destroyed. We catch a glimpse of Holly Robinson again. And we see the Legionnaires . . . at least Dream Girl, Starman and Karate Kid . . . up in the League satellite. They aren't actually prisoners or being held, but they also aren't allowed to leave the satellite. I have the same comments as before. I love this book because of the variety of characters, and because of it's weekly publication schedule. Also, so far, it's had some pretty cool covers.
