the Brave and the Bold #4 - DC

This really is an exciting book. I like the way that the story moves from book to book. So the team-ups are just the natural progression of the story. No forced team-ups, or unnatural ones. The team-up is just how the story moves into the next book. Last issue Hal and Kara went in to space chasing down the Book of Destiny. They got separated on a gambling planet. Hal went chasing after the book to Rann. And Kara, not knowing where she is or how to get home, ends up enlisting the help of Lobo to help guide her way. On their way she decides it's much more important to find the book, so they also head towards Rann. Meanwhile Batman and the Blue Beetle are having problems of their own. La Dama has fired this weapon at Thorak, but Batman was close and it merged the two. The device is called the Haruspex. It's some kind of reality altering device that plays with probabilities. I don't understand what the connection is between this and the book, but it's there. For some reason. Batman, in an attempt to save Blue Beetle and La Dama, fires the weapon on himself. But for some reason, all it does is send him and the rest of the Fatal Five, back to their cell where this whole mission started. So we have Supergirl catching up to Hal on Rann. And Batman, with the Fatal Five, in a holding cell in Legion headquarters. I've always been a fan of Mark Waid's stories. And I've been following George Perez since he first started doing the Fantastic Four. And then Justice League covers for DC. So I was over joyed when I heard that he would be taking on this new series. It's been quite a while since he's done regular work. And I like what he's producing here. So so far I'm quite pleased with this book. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who likes the team-up concept.
