I spend a lot of time and money buying and reading comics. Most of the time I'm happy with my choices, sometimes not. I'm hoping, that with my reviews on what I've read, I might spare someone else dissapointment. I'll read anything, but I can't afford everything. If there's something you'd like for me to read, let me know. If you take the time to read this, please, take the time to let me know what you think. I may not agree with you, or you may not agree with me. But, so what. That's life.

Hellblazer #233 - Vertigo
From what I understand of this story, they're taking John Constantine back to his roots. It looks like they're trying to make him into the bad-ass that he was before. Not the wimp that he's been lately. Let me correct that. He's not necessarily a wimp. But he's been more in the position of reacting to things, rather than controlling them. And that, certainly, is not the John Constantine that we all came to know and love, when he first came on to the scene, way back when in Swamp Thing. They've taken him back to Ravenscar. The psychiatric facility where he stayed for a little while, but is now a casino. Interesting transference. Anyways, we learn a little bit about John's past, and some of the things that haunt him. Which essentially, is what he's here for. He's decided that he has to much baggage hanging around his neck to be effective. It's toned him down, and actually made him a bit sheepish. So he has to confront all that baggage, give it physical form . . . . and then stab it in the eye to purge it from his life. Which he does. But . . . he almost doesn't make it. The weight of all his guilt, and self-doubt is almost more than he can bear. But he pushes past it. And by accepting it and controlling it, the spells he cast has given it physical form. The form of a new born . . . demon baby? Anyways once he has the form, he simply needs to purge it. Which he does. By tossing it over the cliff. Upon it's death, he feels like a new man. Indestructible! "It's good to be back!" Now we can get back to the Hellblazer stories that we all know and love. Andy Diggle has done a fantastic job with his first story-arc. I can't wait to see where he takes John from here.
