Justice #12 - DC

I'll tell you what . . . there's a short list of a few fantastic writers out there. It includes Bendis, Johns, Loeb, Meltzer, Morrison, Ellis, Azzarello, Claremont, Simonson, Winick . . . and probably a few I forgot. These are guys, that no matter what book they're writing . . . what character's they're working with . . . or even what company they're working for . . . . continue to put out quality stories that make the reader think. They always present new ideas, new ways of looking at things, or just give us a fresh approach to an old concept. But if you see that the book is written by one of these guys . . . you know that it's going to make you think, it's going to pull you in to the story, and it's going to make you care about the characters. That's just something that all these guys have in common . . . and they always deliver. Well I'm here to tell you that Jim Krueger and Alex Ross' names need to be added to that list. This book . . actually this whole series, has been fantastic right from day one. This book came out every 6 to 8 weeks, so it's taken about 2 years for the 12 issues to come out. But I'll tell you what, no matter how long you waited between issues, when the next one came out, you had no problem jumping right back in to the story. And to think that they actually handled this many characters over that stretch of time, kept all their stories straight, nothing got confusing or mixed up, and Alex and Doug Braithwaithe delivered stunning painted pages over the whole course of the series . . . . is just, in and of itself, a phenomenal feat. I'm sure that over the years this series is going to be printed over and over in TPB or hard-back format . . . it deserves it . . . and it's a series that's going to stand the tests of time. 15 years from now, you'll be able to look back at this series, read it, and it'll be just as incredible as it is now. No matter what they had to pay Jim and Alex, or what we had to pay for the books . . . it was worth every penny. If you haven't read this series yet . . . you need to. And if you don't have the books . . . look for the TPB's if you have to. Or . . start checking out Ebay. One way or another, get your hands on them, read them, and enjoy a brilliant story. I'm just sad it had to come to an end. As it says on the last page, " . . what could we do for an encore?". One thing I would like to see though . . I would like to see all of Alex's sketch pages put together in one book. I'm sure we will sooner or later. And I'm sure we'll get some more of his preliminary work. I just think that would be a great book to accompany this. All I can say is . . . THANK YOU!!!
