Action Comics #851 - DC

I have to say, I like Richard Donner's influence on Geoff Johns story here. Of course being the brilliant artist Adam Kubert is doesn't hurt either. Anyways they set up this story a lot like a movie. The framing sequence is very similar. And it really works well. Last issue General Zod had sent Superman in to the Phantom Zone. We'll once he got there, he hooked up with Mon-El. Of course you all remember he was there. Right? Anyways, there's also a Kryptonian prison in the Zone. It seems they were going to send Dev-Em in to the zone, but before they could, the projector blew up and took the whole prison into the Zone with it. Because of this, inside the prison, things are solid. Which is how Zod and Ursa hooked up to create Christopher. Actually his name is Lor-Zod. Anyways, they've been abusing him for years because, since he was born in the zone, he has special abilities. He's the only one who kept his tangibility whether he was inside or outside of the prison. So anyways, they found a way to build a rocket, and launched him out in to the real world. In doing so, the rocket kept the door open, so Zod and his crew could get out. So Superman just has to beat up Dev-Em, build a rocket, and then hope that he can get it out of the Zone without falling apart. Of course he does so, but the world he comes back to is quite different than the one he left. Zod has taken over everything. So Superman has to turn to Luthor to try to defeat him. But Luthor already has a team read to go. The new Superman Revenge Squad consists of Parasite, Bizarro the Krpytonite guy. I can't remember his name. So in order to take Zod down, Superman's going to have to team up with this bunch of lowlifes. Great story and fantastic art by Kubert. This has become a great book to read.
