When they named this book Origins, they weren't kidding. The back-story in this issue takes us all the way back. Almost to the beginning. Weapon X, or as it was first called, the Hudson Bay Company, was being run by James and Heather Hudson. Department H. Well, he wasn't the actual person in charge, we don't actually know that name yet, but . . . he was very close to the top. And Burr, or Cyber, was one of the people that were, for lack of a better word, the drill sergeant. He was in charge of training. And, on James word, he was to take a special interest in Logan. Later on he would also be his son's, Daken, trainer. To get this information from Cyber, he had to take him to the Tinkerer to get him to fix Cyber up. Basically, Burr has a bum heart, and he got the Tinkerer to install a pacemaker. But there are 2 problems. First of all it's on the outside, because Cyber is covered with Adamantium. He couldn't cut him open to put it on the inside. Second, per Logan's request, and with the help of the Synthesizer, he's made it out of Carbonadium. But Carbonadium . . . " . . this stuff is radioactive. It eats you alive. How do I get it off?" Meanwhile, Daken is being punished for coming in to contact with his father. Whomever is controlling him, doesn't want them to meet up just yet. "Stay . . away from him! Until he's done doin' what our master wants him to do." So there are scheme's within' schemes. Verrry interesting! A nod to Laugh-in, for those of you not old enough to remember. Anyways, this is a fantastic book. I think I like it even better that the regular Wolverine title. But right now, that one's a little bit confusing. Anyways, great story by Daniel Way. And I keep saying this, but this is some of Steve Dillon's best stuff to date. Very nice.
