This is definitely not one of my favorite X-Men story-lines. I wasn't overly thrilled with it when it ran through 12 issue of Uncanny. And I'm even less thrilled with it now. Other than the X-men being involved with it, it really doesn't hold my interest. At all. It's written by Christopher Yost, and drawn by Paco Diaz Luque. But, really, I don't blame them. They just have what they have to work with. Actually Paco's artwork is pretty good. It's not as good as Billy Tan's cover. But hey . . . it's decent. Anyways, at the end of last issue, a new race becomes involved in this skirmish. It calls itself the Scy'ar Tal. Which literally translates as "Death to the Shi'ar." In trying to talk to it's leader, Rachel finds out that it's hates the Shi'ar because it basically wiped out their race. The original name of their race, is the M'Kraan. As it the M'Kraan crystal. That's why they've come back. To retrieve the crystal. So Vulcan is trying to defend Feather's Edge from the resistance, more specifically the StarJammers. then the Scy'ar Tal show up. Alex tries to communicate with it's leader. He's just known as the Eldest. You know, the enemy of my enemy thing. Well they don't want to listen. So they drop, what looks like, a homing beacon on the planet. Actually it was Shi'ar stargate technology, on a planetary scale. Basically, they opened the gate, and dropped a star on the planet. Shortly thereafter, to their surprise, the StarJammers have visitors aboard their ship. It's Vulcan and his Imperial Guard. All he says is "Hello Alex. Time Out!" Yes it's an intriguing story. And yes I know that the Shi'ar are directly involved with the X-men. But really . . . I don't care. I would rather have just been referenced to it later on, in a different story. "Hey, this is what happened to . . . . . out in Shi'ar space a few months ago. This is where we stand with our Shi'ar alliance now." You know. Something along those lines. But that's just my opinion.
