Robin #167 - DC

This is really a sad issue. But actually, it's just kind of a fill-in before the whole Resurrection of Ra's al Ghul story-line starts next issue. That's going to be a major cross-over between all the Bat books, so this story couldn't carry over in to next issue. It was very touchingly written by Brandon Thomas, with art by Freddie E Williams II. Another artist whom they seem to be keeping really busy of late. Basically the storyline is, there's been a huge breakout from Arkham. Jason has decided to go and try to gather up the escapee's, while Batman handles his other cases. But during the process, he really starts to question how much they put civilian people in jeopardy during their nightly jaunts. He's wondering if the ends are worth that risk. Especially when he goes jumping in to a hostage situation, where one guy has already been killed. He takes out the bad guys pretty fast, as usual, but then when he finds out who it was that had shot the innocent, he really opens a can of whoop-ass! So much so, it scares him. He thinks about how he's being watched at all times. He knows that. They have to walk that thin line between justice and revenge. And there's probably been times that his actions have been disappointing. We think he's talking about Batman. But I think he was talking about his father. Which he then goes to visit at his grave-site. He really unloads on him, but he ends with "I'll never give up, dad. Not while there's a breath in our bodies . . neither one of us will ever give up." And by that time Batman's there. As he's leaving, Batman turns to Jacks grave and says, "Goodnight, Jack. I'll take it from here." Like I said, very touching story. Tim has really turned out, I think, to be the best Robin yet.
