Justice League of America #14 - DC

Another fantastic cover by Ian Chuchill. To bad they couldn't get him to do some more interior art. But he will be showing up in the Halloween special. So . . there's that. But our new writer, Dwayne McDuffie, has come on board and sailed in to the next chapter without a hitch. Of course it helps that Ed Benes has been so consistent with his incredible pencils. Seriously, visually, this book has never looked better. So with Lex's formation of the In-Justice League, he has started taking Leaguers captive. He's gathered up about 8 or 9 of them already. The quips between Lex and the Joker are hilarious. And Superman and Black Lightning make a pretty good team. But even they can't stand up to the combined might of all these villains. Eventually they too fall. But, having all those heroes in one place, his place, may prove to be the downfall of his plan. If one of them were to break free, or is feigning capture, the domino effect could be catastrophic for Lex's new little band. But at the end of this issue, Lex is hold Superman, unconscious, with a shard of Kryptonite to his throat. It doesn't look good. But usually that's exactly when the League bounces back. I can't wait to see how they get themselves out of this one. This series is easily one of the best books on the shelves right now. Fantastic effort by all involved.
