X-Factor #24 - Marvel

The last few issues have involved a new threat to our team, Huber. Apparently he's a mutant who has the abilities of every other mutant on earth. He stays in isolation most of the time, because the psychics around really give him a headache. For some reason he seems to be trying to push the mutants in to another war with the humans. We don't really know all his motivations, just that he can't directly harm another mutant. It's some kind of code, or inhibitor or something that he has. So everything has to be done through subterfuge or manipulation. But, an interesting twist, is that Rictor somehow has some kind of natural ability to form defenses against Huber's attacks. At least when Huber's using his mutant powers. But, Rictor isn't a mutant anymore. Verrry interesting! Does anybody get the Laugh-In reference? But Rictor puts up enough of a fight that it allows Monet enough time to return from their mission. Which, by the way, was all a ruse to get her and Theresa far away from Huber. Anyways, Layla ends up taking out Nicole. It seems accidental, but doesn't everything with Layla? And somehow, the guys that Huber transported to the Antarctica, get a transport door to come home. We don't really know if it was Huber that did it or not. But once Monet is back, he decides to retreat to his isolation. Also his meds are wearing off, so the contact with mutants is more than he can handle right now. In the Endangered Species story-line, Hank has decided to go to Doctor Strange to see if he can help him. Instead he takes him on a tour of the Omniverse. Showing him all his various selves, and how they're all failing in their individual attempts to find a solution to the problem. Which leaves Hank feeling . . . small. And also without a clue as to what his next step should be. But he's going to have to figure out something, because there's only 2 chapters left. As usual, a fantastic book.
