Sensational Spiderman #36 - Marvel

This issue picks up after the last, where all these fake Spider-man guys were showing up in Manhattan. As of this issue, Peter's picked up about 10 of them. The problem is, whatever process was used to make them, slowly degrades and then can be life-threatening to the recipients. Also, it seems that with each experiment, there's a different twist on the Spider-man motif. It seems that none of the recipients though are mad about what's been done to them. "We were on the streets when this guy found us. No one gave us a second look. Or, if they did, it was to hurt us. He made us strong. Gave us a fighting chance. You say were turning in to something that's not human . . .? Well guess what, that's what we were." So when Peter helps the police develop and anti-dote for them, so they won't die, most of them refuse to take it. And there's more coming. Peter delivers another to the police station this issue, and we see another in his holding cell, someplace, obviously waiting for some type of change to occur. So . . . Peter doesn't want to, but he calls on Reed Richards for help. They talk . . . a lot. But the biggest help Reed gives him is in the tag that all these guys have been injected with. It seems that whoever did this to them, also wanted to keep tabs on them, so he implanted them with a computer chip. So Reed has reverse engineered the frequency, and when Peter follows it back, he should be able to find them. Which he does, at the end of this book. And on the final page, we find out that it's led him to the lair of Edward Hyde. I really like this book. I'm a little disappointed that Angel Medina isn't on pencils this issue. But, it's still a good book. That's an awesome Clayton Crain cover.
