I spend a lot of time and money buying and reading comics. Most of the time I'm happy with my choices, sometimes not. I'm hoping, that with my reviews on what I've read, I might spare someone else dissapointment. I'll read anything, but I can't afford everything. If there's something you'd like for me to read, let me know. If you take the time to read this, please, take the time to let me know what you think. I may not agree with you, or you may not agree with me. But, so what. That's life.

Jack of Fables #9 - Vertigo
I like this book. But this particular issue left me kind of dry. Jack is now going by the name of John Trick. At least in Las Vegas. His recent wife, has died, and he is now the owner and executive manager of the Grand-Duche de Luxembourg. I believe one of Las Vegas' smaller hotel / casinos. Anyways, being who he is, he doesn't want to play by other people's rules. Well the rules in Las Vegas are that the mob expect certain pay-offs, and they are handled by Dan the Pit Boss. So a certain percentage of the monies paid goes to Dan, before the bosses are paid. Well, Jack wants to strike a new deal. So he goes to the source, and it turns out to be Lady Luck, from fable land. "Dammit! I can't turn around these days without some crazy fable broad trying to murder me. I left New York to get away from these people." With his sidekick, Jack . . . er John, is able to come out of the encounter ok. If it was up to Lady Luck, he would've taken a dirt nap. But Jack . . . er John, seems to have this propensity for getting out of sticky situations. Or at least coming out with his head above the ground. Anyways since Lady Luck can't seem to take care of Jack . . . er John, directly. She takes the indirect route by lending her luck to all of Jack's customers. Which, as a casino owner, could really suck! Meanwhile, the Librarian and Mr. Revise are getting closer and closer to returning all the fables to their retirement village. They're even closing in on Jack. Like I said, I like the book, I like the concept, but this particular issue, I felt, wasn't as exciting as it could've been. But . . . I'll still come back for more. Just to see what happens.
