Justice League of America #7 - DC

This is hands down one of the best books on the shelves today. This month we get 3 different covers. The regular book comes with 2 covers, that fit together to make one big poster sized picture of the JLA. Also in the background, there's a group photo of each incarnation. These cover are by Ed Benes. And they're pretty awesome. But then, to give us more to think about, they put out a premium variant cover by Michael Turner that is just incredible. The picture of Wonder Woman at the right is just a piece of that cover. The whole cover shows her fighting a dinosaur. But it is truly a beautiful cover. And of course we still have Ed Benes doing the interior pencils. This guy is good. And he's gotten a lot of credit for his stuff in the past. But I'm here to tell you, that this is some of his best stuff to date. Hands down! Then, just to make you wet yourself a little more, Brad Meltzer is writing the title. He is doing such an incredible job. The personalities that he's given each of these characters, and the handle that he has on all the interpersonal relationships . . . is just genius. Hal and Ollie are talking about Roy. He's been asked to join the League, and they're changing his name to Red Arrow. Basically the same costume as Green Arrow . . but . . . Red. And he is overwhelmed with joy. So Ollie asks Hal, as they're doing some target practice, " . . So you gave Roy the costume?" "Yes Ollie . .", replies Hal. " And Ollie continues with, " . . and you didn't tell him it was . . . . ?" "Do I not know your dance already? Of course I didn't tell him it was from you. You're wrong about him though, he would've loved to have you there.", Hal scolds him. "I'm sure he would've.", replies Ollie, " . . but if I would've stayed, he never would've joined. Did you ever do anything when your dad was standing over your shoulder telling you to do it? I was a crap mentor, Hal . . . I failed him all those years. Truly failed him! But this time . . . for once, I wanted to get out of his way for the right reasons." I think Ollie may be finally growing up. So it looks like, so far, we have Vixen, Hawkgirl, Red Arrow, Black Lightning, Black Canary, Hal Jordan, Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman. And something may be going on with Geo-Force and Red Tornado, but we don't really know what that's all about yet. And . . . Batman and Black Lightning are trying to figure out what to do with Trident. With the Starro thing, they don't really want to send him to Arkham. But when they fingerprint him, they find out that he's really . . . . Karate Kid? Like I said, Fantastic Book!!! If you aren't buying this, you're really missing out.
