R.E.B.E.L.S. #3 - DC

Ok, without a Legion title right now, I have to rely on this book to give me that fix. It's not the same Legion . . per-se, but . . it's close . . kind of. Anyways, Vril Dox is trying to create a new Legion . . I think. But, he'll have to call them REBELS because his old squad, LEGION is still operating. Which is kind of the problem. Vril had created a living computer, Silica, to run LEGION, but apparently someone has taken her over and has turned the peace-keeping officers of LEGION into an army of oppression. So now he needs to assemble a group to free the 83 worlds that he formerly protected. The other problem is, Vril is trying to recruit some of his former LEGION members . . Strata this issue, but they don't know that he's no longer leading LEGION. All they know is that LEGION seems to be an army of boot-steppers now, and to them that isn't an action that would be completely disassociated with Vril's previous behaviors. He can be an ass. This issue he also transforms Wildstar into an energy being . . much like Wildfire from the Legion series. So now she's got abilities and powers like Wildstar, but also the tracking abilities that are innate to her species. "I'll need more recruits to free my client worlds. And I need you to track them down, Wildstar. We'll gather them and go to planet Maltus . . the nerve center of LEGION." Meanwhile, unbeknownst to Vril, the Omega Men are attacking Matlus. They've also decided to try to take down Silica. Which they do, but then they make a startling discovery. It seems the switch that was turned on this organization was done so by Starro. We don't know everything that's going on yet, but . . I'm guessing they've taken over this entire planet. "Maltus: A world so densely populated that contraceptives are now added to the water supply . . . Encyclopedia Galactica" That's hilarious. That's the other thing I like about this series, I get to see my favorite space-pirates . . the Omega Men. Tony Bedard is writing this. I loved his work when he did the Outsiders. He does a great job with team books. Andy Clarke is doing the pencils. So far this series seems to be off to a good start. The question is . . can they keep up the momentum. For that . . we'll have to wait and see.
