Moon Knight #29 - Marvel

I'm not really diggin' this whole new direction with Jake Lockley and all. Maybe I just need to give it some more time, but . . right now, for me . . I don't know, it's just not as interesting as the previous story-line. Plus, now that 'Jake' is in Mexico, he's got a partner in crime down there with the Punisher. However, Jake isn't aware yet that he's even there. And really his involvement in this whole story-line has been rather minuscule. I mean, he does take out some Russian crime-members this issue, but . . that's about the most he's done in the last 3 issues. Jake is involved with a Mexican crime-lord who lied to him to get him to return his daughter. Jake thought he was doing it out of a father's concern, but he's found out that what he really wanted was to offer her up as a sacrifice to the Russian crime-boss he was trying to get in bed with. Which is where the Punisher's connection comes in to all of this because he's after the Russian mob. Then we throw in a couple of Mexican mercenaries who want to be tag-team wrestlers . . and dress the part . . and we've got an odd type of story-line going here. Also, don't forget it's Mexico, so . . everybody is double crossing everybody. Like I said, I've seen better story-lines from Mike Benson in this book, so . . I'm a little disappointed. Jefte Palo's pencils are ok, but . . they're nothing fantastic. But, the cover by Gabriele Dell'otto is pretty sweet. That's the best part about the whole book. They even do the Moon Knight logo in the colors of the Mexican flag. Hopefully this story-line will wrap up soon and we'll move on to something better.
