I spend a lot of time and money buying and reading comics. Most of the time I'm happy with my choices, sometimes not. I'm hoping, that with my reviews on what I've read, I might spare someone else dissapointment. I'll read anything, but I can't afford everything. If there's something you'd like for me to read, let me know. If you take the time to read this, please, take the time to let me know what you think. I may not agree with you, or you may not agree with me. But, so what. That's life.

Avengers / Invaders #9 - Marvel / Dynamite Entertainment
At the end of last issue, the Avengers and the Invaders were about to fix everything. They had just beaten D'spayre, and got the cosmic cube from him. We aren't going to question how he got it in the first place. We'll just let that go. Anyways, with the help of the cube the Avengers were getting ready to send the Invaders back and put time back on the right course. But, they also had to gather up Paul Anselm. He was a soldier that had come through time with the Invaders by accident. He was pulled out of time in the middle of the war so . . he didn't really know what was going to happen. He found his future self in New York City, so . . obviously he survived. They did some chatting. His future self tells him everything that he went through during the war, and all of the friends that he lost because of it. Basically, in his platoon . . he was the only one to survive. Well now that he has all of this knowledge, he has a couple of decisions to make. I'm sure his first thought was that he'd stay in the future and just avoid all of that. But that's not really an option. However, when the Avengers showed up to retrieve him, they were holding the cosmic cube in his hand. All it took was a little courage on his part and he takes the cube and sets about fixing history on his own. The first mistake was when they went back . . they lost Doctor Strange. The second mistake? He's a normal Joe. He's not used to wielding a power like this. He's starts doing stuff, but . . he forgets to protect himself and he gets shot. The Cube ends up on the battlefield and is retrieved by the Red Skull. Needless to say, when the Avengers become acclimated to their surroundings they find out that they are in a Nazi run world. With the power of the Cube, the Red Skull has helped Hitler take over the whole world. So now the Avengers need to go to Germany and try to figure out a way to steal the Cube from the Skull. There's just one problem. When they get to Europe they find the entire continent surrounded by a wall. "My men told me that it was created in minutes. They call it the Aryan Wall. It surrounds most of Europe, all the lands that Hitler claimed belonged to his master race." Overall I think that Alex Ross and Jim Krueger have done a pretty decent job with this series. I like the twists and turns that we've gone through. But we pretty much knew that something like this was going to happen near the end of the series. It would be anti-climatic if the Avengers just got the Cube, sent everyone back and then it was all fixed. Where's the drama in that? I've also grown to appreciate Steve Sadowski's talent as this series progresses. He has some pretty good looking panels in this particular issue. There's only 3 issues to go. We know how it's going to end. That's unfortunate. No matter how good Alex is, he doesn't have the power to rewrite anything. But that's ok. Sometimes even though we know the destination, the ride can still be a blast.
